Our winter training sessions are now coming to an end and with the refit of our new narrowboat Scouting Venture also reaching it's final stages we have decided to run additional training sessions and familiarisation days on weekends throughout May and June on the following dates:
Saturday 13 May & Sunday 14 May
Saturday 20 May & Sunday 21 May
Saturday 27 May & Sunday 28 May
Saturday 17 June & Sunday 18 June
These sessions will mainly take place onboard Scouting Venture as Jubilee Venture is already booked out most weekends over the summer. More information about our training and how to book can be found on our training page. Please also see below for important information regarding changes to the nights away permits.

Following changes to scout association rules all overnight trips now require a leader to have a Greenfield nights away permit (NAP). This is because the new rules now class our narrowboats as a greenfield site due to the emtpying of a cassette toilet.
If leaders do not currently have one they can ask their DC to arrange an assessment for a restricted greenfield permit for use on narrowboats only.

Over the last couple of months Scouting Venture has been totally stripped out and a major refit is currently underway to allow groups to stay onboard overnight. The refit will include new bathroom, new kitchen, 8 bunks for young people, 2 bunks for adults and new lighting throughout. The central heating will be remaining in place for those wishing to hire our boat during the winter. We are now taking overnight bookings and Scouting Venture will be available for hire from late April this year. Please also see our facebook page for photos and further updates.

With Santa making an early stop in Wakefield during December to have a weekend break before the big day on Jubilee Venture (Yes, bookings are open all winter for sailings!) when he opened up for visitors to come see him and he even gave out a few presents on the way.
In total we ran 6 trips over the two days and was once agin a successful event. Special thanks to 31st Wakefield for there excellent review. We hope to run the event again this year so watch this space!

Santa is making a welcome return to Wakefield again this year and he will be joining us on
Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December on board Jubilee Venture. See photos below taken at our sail with santa event a couple of years ago.
We hope to be moored at the Navigation Inn, Calder Grove (to be confirmed). There is space for 10 young people and 2 leaders on each trip and we hope to be running 4 trips each day. Cost will be £6 for each person, payable in advance. It will be on a first come first served basis for this popular event, so if you want to book please contact Kay our bookings secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
