Just a reminder that during GMT (29/10/17 to 24/3/18) there is a 25% discount on the hire prices, and also that Scouting Venture is available for hire all year round as she has central heating, so is ideal for a winter camp. Please get winter bookings in as soon as possible so that we know what weekends we have available for training.
Santa will be joining us again this year on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of December so if your Beavers or Cubs would like to Sail with Santa, please drop Kay an email at [email protected] and make a provisional booking. We may be able to make additional dates available if needed.
Prices for the 2017/18 season will be confirmed shortly but we have already had a number of narrowboat bookings for 2018 - several for both boats as groups take advantage of the additional capacity to give larger groups the experience of narrow boating. If you are thinking of running a camp on the water in 2018, do make a booking sooner rather than later, especially if you’d like both boats together.

Last weekend we welcomed 4th Golcar Scout Group from Huddersfield onboard Scouting Venture for our first overnight booking. The group also hired Jubilee Vernture making them the first group to hire both narrowboats for a weekend. The group has also uploaded some photos from the trip to their website, the link can be found on the photo gallery page. If you would like to hire one or both of our narrowboats please complete the booking form under the bookings tab.

Jubilee Venture has been in dry dock recently and has been fully "Black Bottomed" which also included fitting: new anodes, new centre pin and new boat hook/plank holder.
For the users that have experienced more than normal water ingress down the stern tube we have also been investigating this issue. After many years of wear and 6 hours to remove we can were finally able to see the problem which has now been rectified. A massive thanks to South Pennine Boat Club for use of their covered dry dock and for the very warm welcome we have received. Also massive thanks to Malcolm from Tayburg boats who spent most of his Sunday bent double in the engine of JV helping use fix the stern tube issue.
There have also been improvements to the interior which included replacing the old roof panels with a new tongue and rove roof. The old air vents have also been replced with new mushroom style air vents to prevent any further leaks.
